Arkansas Fighting Game Network
Saturday Night Smackdown! Event Page
Rules/Formats: We try to adhere to major tournament standards with as little modifications as possible. Thus, the rules we go by are the same rules encouraged by places such as Evo, Smashboards and MLG.
Universal Rules:
- All brackets are double elimination.
- Double-Blind Select can always be chosen to begin a match.
- The winner of a game must stick with the same character used to win for the following game, except in the case of Smash Bros. Loser can always change characters.
- Player's Choice: All rules are subject to be ignored if agreed upon by both parties, however due to time constraints, matches cannot be extended longer than their allotted time (i.e. cannot play best 3 out of 5 when supposed to play 2 out of 3, or cannot change timer limits to infinity)
- Please Bring Your Own Controller: While there will probably be many players willing to lend you a controller/stick, there is NO guarantee. You WILL be disqualified if you cannot start the match within the allotted time.
- Players have six minutes to report to and begin their matches and will be disqualified if unable to do so.
- It is the player's responsibility to notify a staffer over a dispute on rules.
- Staffers will be identifiable through the use of name badges.
- Button mapping and converters ARE allowed while turbo is NOT.
- Winners are required to notify staffers of the results of their match. This will speed up the process greatly and help us run a smooth tournament.
- Wireless sticks/pads/remotes will be allowed. However, we require that you pull out your battery when you are not playing to avoid disrupting tournament matches.
- In addition, pausing or restarting the game/match for any reason, except with the consent of the opponent will result in a forfeit of that particular game/round (whichever is smaller). This includes battery/controller problems.
- Every person is responsible for the functionality of their controller. A "button check" may (and should) be asked for prior to every match. A player cannot request a button check once damage has been taken and must finish the game (but may ask for another button check at the beginning of the next game). If a controller is non-functional or is functioning incorrectly, the player must receive consent from his or her opponent before pausing the match.
SSBMelee:
- 4 stock, 8 minute time limit
- 2/3 games, 3/5 games Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals
- Items off
- Games decided first by lives, then %. Sudden death is used to break ties.
- Stage Knock Out: Stage Striking will be in effect for the first match of the set. The player with the lower port will get to choose the first strike. Loser chooses ban before next match.
- Modified DSR: You cannot go back to the last stage you won in a set, unless agreed upon by the other player.
- Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or select to go random. The winner may then change their character, followed by the loser.
- Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), Wobbling, and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.
Neutrals:
FD
Yoshis
Dreamland
Battlefield
Fountain of Dreams
Counterpicks 1v1:
Kongo Jungle
Brinstar
Rainbow Cruise
Pokemon Stadium
SSBBrawl:
Unity Ruleset
- 2/3 games, 3/5 games Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals
- 3 Stock, 8 minute timer; Items set to "Off" and "None"
- Infinites are legal until 300%.
- Banned: Metaknight's Infinite Cape and Extended Cape Glitches, as well as anything that may hinder the game from continuing (such as freezing, disappearing characters, game reset) or stalling (examples include becoming invisible, continuing infinites past 300%, and reaching a position that your opponent can never reach you).
- There is a Ledge Grab Limit of 35 for Meta Knight and 50 for all other characters. If a game goes to time and one player goes over the Ledge Grab Limit for their character, they will automatically lose the game. If both players exceed their Ledge Grab Limit, then this rule is ignored. In the event of a tie, a Ledge Grab Limit of 13 is used for Meta Knight, and 18 for all other characters.
- Games are decided by 1) Ledge Grab Limit, 2) Stock and then 3) by Percentage. In the event that both players die at the same time or if both players have an equal percentage at the end of time, a one stock, three minutes overtime will be played on the same stage.
- Players are allowed to ban ONE Starter/Counter stage prior to a match.
- At the beginning of the first game, players alternate "slashing" starter stages (at a 1:2:1 ratio) until one stage is left.
- In the event of a dispute, controller ports or stage striking initiation will be selected via Rock-Paper-Scissors or a coin flip.
- Whoever gets first stage strike does not get controller port selection and vice versa.
- Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or select to go random. Loser also may opt to redo the port selection process with that player picking his or her port first. The winner may then change their character, followed by the loser.
- No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.

Player's must agree on a stage within 15 seconds or match will be RANDOM stage select.

Halo: Reach:
Maps and Settings may be found here and here.
We will be using a modified version of their Round-By-Round Game Types.
2/3 games (Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals are 3/5 games).
- Best of 3 Game Matches will consist of two Team Slayer Games and one Capture the Flag Game.
- Best of 5 Games will consist of two Team Slayer Games, two Capture the Flag Games, and one Neutral Bomb Game.
- Any supicions of cheating or any tool (physical or in-game) used to gain an unfair competitive advantage is subject to banning and disqualification.
- No going outside the normal boundaries of a Map.
- No quitting out of a Team Slayer Game.
- If a Team Slayer Game should tie, the Game must be replayed with a 5 minute Time Limit.
- CTF: Time Limit is 15 minutes. At the end of 15 minutes, the team that has a higher score will be declared the winner unless they are only winning by one point and the opposing team has their flag. The opposing team will be allowed to attempt to score, but if the leading team's flag is returned and they maintain their lead, the game is over. If the game ends, the final score stands (Tie = Tie, Win = Win). If the score is tied after 15 minutes, the game continues into Sudden Death. If the game ends in a tie, the game must be replayed in Sudden Death.
- Neutral Bomb Games: Time Limit is 15 minutes. At the end of 15 minutes, the team that has a higher score will be declared the winner unless they are only winning by one point and the opposing team has armed the bomb. The opposing team will be allowed to attempt to detonate which would continue the game into Sudden Death, but if the bomb is disarmed, the game is over. If the score is tied after 15 minutes, the game continues into Sudden Death until the 30 minute mark. If the game continues to the 30 minute mark in a tie, the game must be replayed in Sudden Death.
- Teams that incorrectly end a Round/Game or have all members quit out of the game, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
Call of Duty: Black Ops:
Maps and settings may be found here.
We will be using a modified version of their Round-By-Round Game Types.
2/3 games (Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals are 3/5 games).
- Best of 3 Game Matches will consist of two Capture the Flag Games and one Domination Game.
- Best of 5 Games will consist of two Capture the Flag Games, two Search and Destroy Games, and one Domination Game.
- Any supicions of cheating or any tool (physical or in-game) used to gain an unfair competitive advantage is subject to banning and disqualification.
- No going outside the normal boundaries of a Map.
- No using any of the banned Secondary Weapons, Tactical Grenades, Equipment, Perks, or Weapon Attachments (Secondary Launchers, Flak Jacket, Nova Gas, Decoy Grenade, All Equipment, Warlord, Second Chance, Grenade Launcher, Flamethrower, or Rapid Fire).
- The Team that doesn’t Host must choose to play as the top or bottom team.
- Domination: Two Rounds (each a 6.5-minute Game) must be played, with Teams switching top/bottom teams after Round 1. Total score (sum of both rounds) will be used to declare a winner. For ties, two more Rounds must be played, each with a 5-minute Time Limit.
- CTF: Total score (sum of both rounds) will be used to declare a winner. In the event of a tie, at least two Tiebreaker Rounds will be played. During the first Tiebreaker round, the game continues until either the time limit is reached or a flag is captured. If a flag is captured, the time is recorded and the opposing team has that much time in the second round to attempt to score before the original team scores. If the original team scores again in the second round, they will win. If neither team scores in the first round, whoever scores in round two will be the winner. In the event of another tie, this entire process is repeated.
- Teams that incorrectly end a Round/Game or have all members quit out of the game, without Referee’s permission, will Forfeit the Game.
Gears of War 2:
Maps and settings may be found here.
We will be using a modified version of their Round-By-Round Game Types.
2/3 games (Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals are 3/5 games).
- Each Non-Finals Game must be played as a Best of 5 Rounds. If neither Team has reached 3 Round wins after 5 Rounds have been played and both Teams have won the same number of Rounds, the Game must continue and the next Team to win a Round will win the Game.
- Each Finals Game must be played as a Best of 7 Rounds. If neither Team has reached 4 Round wins after 7 Rounds have been played and both Teams have won the same number of Rounds, the Game must continue and the next Team to win a Round will win the Game.
- Any supicions of cheating or any tool (physical or in-game) used to gain an unfair competitive advantage is subject to banning and disqualification.
- No leaving the normal boundaries of a Map.
- No shooting while Roadie Running.
- No use of the Kung-Fu flip.
- No use of a Smoke Grenade to get through the Lasers on Security.
- No use of any weapon other than the Snub Pistol while using a Meat Shield.
- Players may not attempt to cause the Double Ammo Glitch. Attempting to cause the Double Ammo Glitch includes, but is not limited to, repeatedly dropping and picking up the same weapon.
- If a Character is invisible when they spawn, spawn without a weapon, or become invisible during a Round, the Round will be restarted from the beginning, with both teams starting on the appropriate side of the Map, and the Game will be reset with the appropriate Round Score.
- The Team that doesn’t Host must choose to play as the COG or Locust for each Game.
- Quitting out of a Round (for any player) will be considered a forfeit. Teams will be set to play the next Round starting on the appropriate side of the Map.
- All Players must play as a different COG or Locust Character.
Rock Band 3:
Semi-Casual Rule Set:
"Bands" may consist of anywhere from 1-4 people, with larger bands being given bonus points.
Scores per performance are graded on a 100-point scale.
Out of 70 total points, points are awarded for average band percentage, number of total band members, and difficulty rating per band member.
Out of 30 total points, points are awarded based on how the band impresses the audience and the three judges (each awarding a score between 1-10).
No Fail mode is turned ON.
There is a subjectiveness to the scoring which allows "lesser skilled" but far more entertaining participants to proceed to later rounds. However, this should not offset highly skilled participants who can get high percentages on every song on any difficulty. Thus, the overall winner should be the band that strikes the best balance between "Rock Band skill" and "overall entertainment."
Additional Details:
We encourage everybody to bring any and all equipment if possible. This will speed up tournaments and help everything run more smoothly. We request that all equipment be "checked-in" 30 minutes before tournaments begin to run the smoothest possible tournament.
We require all incoming equipment be labeled at Check-In to avoid theft and accusations thereof. Even so, we encourage all people to keep their sticks/controllers/battery packs on-hand at all times as we are not responsible for missing equipment.
Photography of the event and recording of matches is allowed and even encouraged. However, flash photography is not allowed during matches, due to obvious concerns of distraction. If you record videos or take pictures, please contact me and I will upload the videos to my Youtube account and pictures to my Photobucket account, accessible to everybody on the results page (credit given to you, of course).
For the major tournaments (except for SSF4 and MvC3), PS3 is the console of choice used due to compatibility concerns within the community. The 360 may be used for games that are not supported on PS3 (i.e. if Garou gets voted in) or if there is not sufficient equipment. CRTs and lagless LCDs are the televisions of choice for the tournament.
We appreciate everybody that travels and we know that players are just looking for competition. If you inform us of your party, we will do our best to ensure that you do not play each other in the opening round of the bracket (location-based seeding).
Attendees are encouraged to participate in multiple tournaments. The brackets will skip you if you are currently in a match.
Any game with sufficient interest (via vote-in) will be run as a minor tournament. We reserve the right to cancel tournaments at any time if there is no "real" interest. That is, if a game gets 20 votes and only 3 people show up to the event, we will not host a tournament. Please do not vote unless you think you are going to go.
Results will be posted within 48 hours following the event. Pictures, brackets, standings, and pay-out will all be posted accordingly.

We will be using a modified version of their Round-By-Round Game Types.
2/3 games (Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals are 3/5 games).

- Quitting out of a Round (for any player) will be considered a forfeit. Teams will be set to play the next Round starting on the appropriate side of the Map.

Had a great time at the tourney guys. Thanks everyone who came and supported us either in person or on the stream. Good stuff all around! Let's get started.
SPECIAL THANKS
To start off, I'd like to give a very special thanks to all of our sponsors for making this event as great as it was. You guys will want to watch out for Saber Gaming in the near future! They will become a force to be reckoned with within the tournament scene in the South. They donated $1000 to our event and will surely be doing much more for the community in the near future! Also, shoutouts to Game On Apparel, Borderland Games in Texarkana, TX, Broken Tier, the Bat Cave in Conway, AR and Shadaloo.EU for their generous donations as well. Let's not forget the DFW Fight Club for providing equipment for our event as well. Make sure to not miss their UCC Tournament in May! We'll be there!
Also a special thanks to RawkusX and the stream crew (DeeZee, AfroMH, DGA Gdlk_Rushdown, and everyone else) for making our stream wildly successful. Also, shoutouts to EG Justin F'ing Wong for coming down and helping make our event as hype as possible.
SUMMARY
The third A.R.K. tournament is done and I think we can all say that it is something Arkansas can be proud of. For our third tournament, we managed to get MvC2 legends Justin Wong and Toan (who showed us how Marvel should be played) to come out, over $1000 in sponsorships, over 150 people, and ten states representing (Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Missouri, Mississippi, Louisiana, Utah, California, and Virginia)!
Fierce competition was had in every tournament with heavy-hitters such as EG Justin Wong, Toan, Ihavespaceballs, Iori, ARK XI, TWG Arthur, and several more high-quality players participating. Participation in each tournament varied between 8 for Arcana Heart 3 and 64 for Marvel Vs. Capcom 3. The Main Event (aka the Mystery Game Tournament) was hype as ever with 23 players.
Total payout was $3730 dollars with Marvel and Super Street Fighter IV having over $1000 EACH in pot totals. Anyway, enough of the statistics- on to the results! Shoutouts in the second post!

SHOUTOUTS
Well it's a few days after out event and it's good finally being conscious for more than a few hours at a time. This event turned out pretty well: 150+ people, 10 states, $3730 in total pot money, several wonderful sponsors, and amazing players in attendance! We got coverage on different news stations and as a community, we've built a ton of new relationships! As always, I appreciate everything that EVERYONE has done whether it be helping run tournaments, traveling from a different state, or even just choosing ARK III as their first competitive tournament. Mike and I might have created the A.R.K. tournaments, but it's you guys who have made everything worthwhile. So thanks to everyone!
Now before I start the formal shoutouts, I'd like to take a moment to apologize for a few problems we've had. First off, the heat- Yes we had this problem last time, yes we said we'd fix it, and yes it was still hot. While it wasn't nearly as hot as last time, no excuses. We made arrangements that weren't satisfactory. I'm sorry. No matter what, it won't be that hot at ARK IV. Next, I'm sorry tournaments didn't start on time and ran way longer than we expected. They didn't start on time because we had several issues with Tonamento that couldn't be fixed in a timely manner. They ran longer than intended because several people wanted to play on the stream. Once again, we'll get these issues fixed for next time. I've been in talks with the creators of Tio Tournament Organizer about adding features to a future version so that we will be more confident in using them again in the future. That's the program we used at ARK I and II and that's what we're familiar with. Also, sorry that we never got the MK9 and Project: M tournaments started. By the time we were able to start, there was little to no interest in running them. Shoutouts to getting 20+ entrants for a free tourney for a demo though. And finally, sorry that region-based seeding turned out to be a bust. That was one of the problems we had with Tonamento that we couldn't find a great solution for. This won't be a problem at ARK IV. I hope any other issues were addressed in a timely manner. We're always eager to please so please give us feedback (both positive and negative)!
Once again, thanks to everyone that showed up! I feel like every time we have one of these tournaments, we play a big part in building a scene in Arkansas, and more importantly building the community as a whole. If you're an Arkansas resident, please join the Arkansas Fighting Game Network so we can keep you guys connected on all of the cool events happening around the region!
Shoutouts time! Massive shoutout once again to our sponsors- Saber Gaming (tournament organizers in Arkansas that'll be doing something similar to what we do in the very near future; keep your eyes peeled for them!), Game On Apparel (awesome network of gamers; please register for a free profile on their site to show your support for us AND them), Borderland Games (THE place for gamers in Texarkana; they'll give you better prices for your games than GameStop and even have an ITG2 machine!), BrokenTier (Let's be real, go to their website and check out their awesome shirts; they don't even really need me to plug them!), the Conway Bat Cave (one of the best comic book stores in Arkansas. They have a huge collection of comics, cards, and other related memorabilia), and the DFW Fight Club (Check out their UCC tournament in May! We'll be there to support these amazing tournament organizers!).
Shoutouts to our venue: Conway Gaming Center- Probably the best card-shop / LAN Center in Arkansas. They have big plans to support the Arkansas fighting game community in the future so please support them!
Big ups to all the big time players that came out of the woodwork to support our event! EG. Justin Wong, Toan, TWG Arthur, IHaveSpaceBalls, Iori, etc. It's always a pleasure having you guys and we're looking forward to seeing all of you at ARK IV!
Speaking of which, shoutouts to everyone who helped get Justin Wong here! Why are you guys so godlike?
Shoutouts to all of the media outlets and people that have covered us including THV (Arkansas' CBS Affiliate), Crosby Dunn with UCA's News6, the Log Cabin Democrat, Eventhubs, and Snoooootch! If I missed you, please let me know.
Shoutouts to our stream crew that held it down. Honestly Rawkus (with Interrupted Gaming!) you really held it down. I'm very impressed with how the stream went and 1500+ viewers for an Arkansas stream obviously meant something went right. Other TOs, if you're reading this- hit up Rawkus on SRK and fly him in to do your stream. This guy knows what he's doing. Just watch the stream archive and see how awesome of a job he does. Big ups to the commentators. I actually rewatched our stream (since I couldn't watch most of the matches at the tourney) and you guys did a great job. I was worried about the commentators making our event hype, but... WHAT AN ANSWER! Amazing job Lord Jas, DeeZee, JWong, Afro and everyone else on the mic!
Shoutouts to everyone who traveled from far away- Solidus, Animefreak, Tyler, Flip, and the entire OK crew; FlyMike, Lil Majin, Lord Jas, and the entire Memphis Crew; Ian, Kerry, Chuvy, Andre, Joe, and the entire Dallas crew; Jeff, Kent, and the entire Fort Worth crew; Phillip and the entire Louisiana crew; Deezee, Mexi, Rawkus and the entire Texarkana crew; Green, Dennis, Sam, and the entire NW AR crew; Alex and the entire SE AR Crew; Duckie, Warden, Jwong, Toan.... I could go on and on. Everyone who traveled, thanks for coming and showing your support!
Shoutouts to all of the TOs and various volunteers. I'm sure we were all frustrated at one point or another during the tournament, but we held it down and got things done. Good job!
Shoutouts to the Smash community. You guys don't get enough respect around these parts, but you showed up in number (50+?) and donated $500 to Marvel/SSF4. I can't thank you enough for that!
Shoutouts to "I'd Like To Humbly Request That Everyone Please Stop Farting. This Place Already Smells Bad Enough" who single-handedly managed to delay the tournaments starting for about 5-10 minutes as we tried to enter your name into Tonamento.
Shoutouts to everyone who brought equipment. Shoutouts to free pizza and drinks during a tournament. Shoutouts to having two PS3 -> 360 converters and EVERYONE bringing a PS3 pad.
Shoutouts to the ARFGN for making this event possible. Also BIG shoutout to Imperator, the FATHER of the ARFGN for showing up at ARK III! We've missed you buddy!
Shoutouts to Duckie for providing awesome modding services at our event! A lot of satisfied customers!
Shoutouts to having a horrible memory and knowing that I'm missing people that deserve shoutouts.
Thanks again for supporting us! We'll be back for A.R.K. IV and we hope you will be as well!

Rules/Formats: We try to adhere to major tournament standards with as little modifications as possible. Thus, the rules we go by are the same rules encouraged by places such as Evo and the Smashboards.
Neutrals:

Battlefield
Fountain of Dreams
Counterpicks 1v1:

SSBBrawl:
SBR Certified
- 3 Stock, 8 minute timer
- Items are set to "off" and "none"
- 2/3 games, 3/5 games Loser's/Winner's/Grand Finals
- Players are allowed to ban ONE Starter/Counter stage prior to a match.
- At the beginning of the first game, players alternate "slashing" starter stages until one stage is left.
- Advanced Slob Picks: Loser may choose the next stage or select to go random. The winner may then change their character, followed by the loser.
- In the event of a dispute, controller ports will be selected by Rock-Paper-Scissors
- Port slob picks: On a player's counterpick, that player may opt to redo the port selection process with that player picking his or her port first.
- No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
- Games decided first by stock and then by percentage. If percents are the same or both players die simultaneously, there will be a 1 stock overtime. Bowser's suicide klaw is exempt from this rule.
- If a game ends with Bowser doing his suicide klaw and it ends in sudden death, the sudden death will be ignored and that game will count as a win for Bowser.
- Metaknight's Infinite Cape glitch is banned.
- Stalling is banned. Stalling: The act of deliberately avoiding any and all conflict so that one may make the game unplayable. Running away from an opponent to reach a better position is not stalling, while doing an infinite grab endlessly against a wall is. Any infinite chain grabs must end quickly after 300% has been reached so as to prevent excessive stalling.

1. Each round will feature a different 1 vs. 1 game. Each game and the rules for each will be announced at the beginning of each round.
2. Due to the issues involved with configuring controllers for PC games, please use the controllers provided. If there is an issue with one of the controllers provided, please let the tournament official know.
The official ARK III stream will be hosted by Arkansas' own Rawkus with a separate recording station for the non-Capcom games run by GBS Giovanni. As before, stream station matches will be available for all to see via projector. ARK III is also proud to welcome SRK's Snoooootch who will provide additional media coverage.

Rules/Formats: We try to adhere to major tournament standards with as little modifications as possible. Thus, the rules we go by are the same rules encouraged by places such as Evo and the Smashboards.
Neutrals:

Yoshis

2v2 Teams:
I saw someone was wondering about teams in brawl if it's wanted and if there's time. The only change/s to the rules are that team attack is turned on, and the controller ports go as 1 2 2 1 (or 2 1 1 2), and again, if there's a dispute on port then RPS is played. There is generally a courtesy that if a team has a Sonic or a Lucario, then that team gets to choose the blue color because their red and green colors make it difficult to distinguish which team they're on.

Mystery Game Tournament
1. Each round will feature a different 1 vs. 1 game. Each game and the rules for each will be announced at the beginning of each round.
2. Due to the issues involved with configuring controllers for PC games, please use the controllers provided. If there is an issue with one of the controllers provided, please let the tournament official know.

SUMMARY
Our second ARK tournament has come and gone and it was just as successful as last time! Some events had more entrants, some had less, but overall we had a great turnout and hope everyone had a fantastic time. We thank everyone for making it out and supporting our community, especially our out of state entrants! I'll save all the shoutouts for the second post though.
Like before, Super Street Fighter IV had the most entrants at 43, while Tatsunoko vs. Capcom had only 7. The Mystery Game Tournament, a new addition and considered by some to be the main event, had 10 entrants. The total pot money for our tournaments ended up being $1130 with $430 of that going to the Super Street Fighter IV pot (of which first place received $301).
Also like ARK I, we had participation from five different states (Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, and Arkansas). Unfortunately, we had less participation from Oklahoma and Missouri, but a much better turnout from Texas and Tennessee. Each state took home prize money as Oklahoma's AnimeFreak took first in BlazBlue, Tennessee's Lil Majin took first in Tekken, Arkansas' Chamberlin, Edison, Meximelt, and Yosh took firsts in Melee, Mystery Tournament, Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, and Brawl respectively, Texas' FindMyFarms and Team Jop took firsts in SSFIV Singles and Teams respectively, and Missouri's Warden took 2nds in the Mystery Tournament and Tatsunoko vs. Capcom.

SHOUTOUTS
Wow, our second ARK II tournament is done and even with ARK I under our belts, I can honestly say we were (pleasantly) surprised many times throughout the entire tournament. Whether it be the venue having great communication with us or community members stepping up whenever and wherever we needed it, we truly appreciate everything that has happened to us.
I personally apologize for the venue getting too hot and tournaments not running exactly on time. We (the TOs and the venue owners) tried to get the venue cooled down, but unfortunately failed due to the large number of people, consoles, and tvs. Next time I promise heat will not be a problem as we will have several additional fans on standby. As for the tournament start times- as much as we wanted to get all of the tournaments started exactly when we claimed we would, we were concerned that players would show up after registration ended and be disappointed that they could not enter. Unfortunately, it caused us to push back the tournament schedule, but there were several gamers that would not have gotten to play if we had not done so. However, it is still a valid concern that is actively being discussed among the tournament organizers. We will seek to find a better solution than forcing several players that arrived on time to wait for a single player that arrives late.
I guess I'll start the shoutouts off by saying thank you everybody for coming and having a great time. The sheer number and variety of people made the event very entertaining and worth it for me. I wish we had a better turnout or at least have a higher percentage of those that preregistered show up, but ARK II was still very successful in achieving our number one objective: building the community.
Special shoutouts to Warden (Missouri) and AnimeFreak (Oklahoma) for single-handedly representing their states and doing a damn good job. Warden knocked our AR state champ to loser's in SSFIV while AnimeFreak won the BB:CS tournament with his impressive Bang. Warden- sorry I kept having to cut our conversations short. It was a busy day. We can talk Bison strats some other time. AnimeFreak- thanks for coming dude. Sorry you had to miss the BB:CS quals to come, but I'm glad you did.
Special shoutouts as well to the entire Dallas crew that came up here and partied with us Friday and Saturday nights. Y'all are seriously a ton of fun (even you Chuvy!) and we'd be more than happy to host y'all again anytime. Even if you're just driving through and need a place to stay for the night, just give us a call. Hit us up for the next big thing in Dallas (Bar Fights? Absolute Battle?) and we'll be there. Thanks for the advice/training from all of y'all. Rep that Dufong (DuPhuong?)!
And I can't forget the special shoutouts to the Memphis crew for rocking that Tekken and showing us how it's done. Better luck next time on Super. Sorry I didn't get to watch any of your matches w00tsick; I was looking forward to it too. Other than that, apparently Melty and Vanguard were getting hype as well. Next time come in early and y'all can party with all of us! FlyMike- I'll have to find out where you got your stick art from. I might want to throw one of those on my new custom stick haha.
Shoutouts to our venue, Conway Gaming Center, for being phenomenal hosts. We couldn't ask for better people to work with. They went out of their way to help us with whatever concerns/problems we had. They allowed us to use their equipment, tables, chairs, arcade cabinets (which were awesome btw), and whatever we needed without any problem. It was beyond successful (besides the heating hiccup) from our end. I hope they feel like the partnership was successful from their end as well. I heavily recommend this place to anybody who lives in central AR. Go there, meet the employees, and have a good time. They're truly nice people and they share our vision of trying to build a better gaming community.
Shoutouts to all of our volunteers. Without y'all, this tournament wouldn't be possible. From Anna, our registration table worker, to Kevin, Justin, VTS, YOSH, and Zen- our bracket runners, to Rawkus, our stream broadcaster, thank you guys. Anna, Kevin, and Justin didn't have to show up, but they each did a great job. VTS and YOSH- it's always a pleasure having some of the leaders of the Smash community come and help out in our events. Zen- great job on the brackets as well as designing/running the mystery game tournament. Every game seemed well thought out (or possibly picked randomly out of a hat). Rawkus- great job on the stream. Even though the internet kept going down, the stream looked great and I'm glad we got so many games/matches recorded. Thanks to Ish for designing the fliers and Seel and SeiferSythe for putting up the fliers. Thanks Kage for offering to help.
Shoutouts to the entire Arkansas fighting game community. There's so much to say here. Thanks to everyone who traveled, especially those who traveled far. It was great seeing Jojo, Dennis, Courtney, Kage, Warp, Mexi, and DeeZee again. It was nice finally getting some matches against you Jojo. Thanks to the SRK community- Panda for hosting the out of towners, Seel for bringing everybody including the white wimmenz (Chuvy says thx), as well as everyone else. Thanks to all the other communities that showed up including our Blaz players, our Smash players, our Facebook attendees, etc. It really feels great to see you guys come up to us and say "we had a great time" or "when are you doing this again?" We do this for y'all and we'll do this next time there's a lot of interest.
Thanks again everyone. I know I didn't cover every single person, but this post is way too long already.
PS: Thanks for coming Lan Di. I hope everything worked out for you and I hope you don't still have a hanger stuck in your car.
Capcom.

Set 2: Super Smash Brothers Melee, Mystery Game Tournament, TvC
Set 3: Super Street Fighter IV, Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Vote-Ins
Rules/Formats: We try to adhere to major tournament standards with as little modifications as possible. Thus, the rules we go by are the same rules encouraged by places such as Evo and the Smashboards.
Universal Rules:
- All brackets are double elimination except for SF4 3v3 Teams.
- Controller Mods, Glitches (IC Freeze Glitch, Mewtwo Soul Stunner, etc), and tactics used to stall a match (wall-bombing, rising pound), are banned.
- Wobbling Banned

Unfortunately, we cannot stream matches for this tournament due to inexperience and lack of manpower. If you record videos or take pictures, please contact me and I will upload the videos to my Youtube account and pictures to my Photobucket account, accessible to everybody on the results page (credit given to you, of course).
For the major tournaments, PS3 is the console of choice used due to compatibility concerns within the community. The 360 may be used for games that are not supported on PS3 (i.e. if Garou gets voted in) or if there is not sufficient equipment. CRTs and lagless LCDs are the televisions of choice for the tournament, but due to using equipment from the community, LCDs with lag may be set up accidentally. A player always has a right to not play on a setup if lag becomes an issue and if lag is discovered, the set up will be removed from competition.
We appreciate everybody that travels and know that players are just looking for competition. If you inform us of your party, we will do our best to ensure that you do not play each other in the opening round of the bracket (location-based seeding).
Attendees are encouraged to participate in multiple tournaments. The brackets will skip you if you are currently in a match.
The three games with the most votes will be allowed into tournament play. However, if there is sufficient interest for more than three tournaments, we will consider including other games as well.

Get Hype Section:
Yo Yo Yo- Memphis' Shin Blade is talking that mad shit not only sayin' that he's taking our SSF4 tourney but that his boy Bishop is only comin to get some free money in BlazBlue. He's accepting money matches in SF, Tekken, or Guilty Gear if you're man enough to face him.
Currently Arkansas' own JoJo ain't phased and has already challenged him to FT3 T6 and SSF4 for $10 each.
We all know the bad blood between Texas and Arkansas with FindMyFarms callin' out AR last time and then taking our fight money. What's even worse is Chuvylicious saying AR is free as hell and claiming he's gonna take us out. Kinda funny comin' from the scrubbiest player in Dallas. He's so free he was scared to play one of his matches at Evo and didn't even show up.
For my Dallas peeps- I might pick up Honda or Gen and show y'all why they call me MaxX Fingers.
