There will be a meet-up starting at 5pm (I'll be there at 4:30 to start setting up) on Monday June 29th. It will be held at Larry's Pizza. The address is 1068 Markham St in Conway, AR. The phone number is 501-329-3131 if you need directions. This is a friendly get together, no buyin or money involved. Feel free to bring your friends!

So far all I can confirm we have is (what I'm bringing) one tv, one xbox 360, SFIV, HD Remix, UMK3, one stick, two spare controllers...and MvC2 if that really does come out on the 29th. I would imagine we will need at least one more TV/Console to keep at least most of us occupied for the evening. Also, I'm going to provide a couple of pizzas (3-4) but if you guys would like more I would really appreciate throwing in a couple of bucks for the pizza expenses.

Lastly, I want to make it very clear. Please, KEEP IT CLEAN. This is a family-themed establishment and if people are being unsportsmanlike (cursing, complaining loudly about being beaten, yelling, constantly harassing the other player) is going to insure that we can NOT use the place again to meet up. So, if you'd like to be able to do this again, be respectful of your fellow players. :)

If you'd like to contribute a TV/console or anything feel free to PM me on Shoryuken (I'm edudlive there also) or email me at edudlive@gmail.com

Back from the dead + Tourney.

|
Hey everyone, it's been awhile, but I'm back with good news. There is going to be another tournament at Play Time Pizza this Monday, June 15th at 6:00pm. The entry fee is $10 to get in the door and $5 per bracket. The only catch is we need at least 10 confirmed people to play. So far we have 6, so only 4 more to go. If you plan to come let either myself, jxhicks@gmail.com , or Wally, rd__43@hotmail.com , know.

Also, if you want to get in some practice beforehand, I'll be having people at my place this Saturday afternoon. Give me a shout for directions.

Play Time Pizza and friendly house matches

|
Wow, the Play Time Pizza tourney was a blast. There were 23 people who played, and it lasted about 4 hours. Congrats to Crosby ,Tang, and Mike, who won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place respectively.

Dan, the organizer of the event, said that he plans to turn this into a monthly event, with more than just SF4. I'm stoked about that. Hopefully he'll get bigger and bigger turnouts so he can keep this thing going.

On a side note, I'm hosting some friendly matches at my place this Saturday at 1:00 pm. Everyone is welcome, so come on by at get some practice in against your fellow Arkansans. I live at the Summit House Apartments right behind Park Plaza Mall on University. Give me a call for directions or to get into the building .

Tournament at Play Time Pizza

|
Hey, sorry for the last minute nature of this info, but I just got all the info myself yesterday.

A Street Fighter IV tournament is being held at the Play Time Pizza here in Little Rock. The winner will receive a Street Fighter 2 Hyper Fighting arcade cab. Registration is $5 plus the cost of admittance into PTP, which I believe is $10. You must register by 3:00 pm today. They will be playing on Xbox 360, bring your own controller, and they are starting at 6:00 pm.

I went up there yesterday to sign up and there were about 20 names on the list. Hopefully there will be a big turnout. If you can, check it out. Hope to see you there.

Aftermath

|
Big thanks to Chris, Derek, Adrian, and Tim for coming out Saturday. We did not really have a tournament because of the number of people, but we played plenty of matches and had a good time. Chris, aka Warpticon, was very interested in building the scene, and I think two heads are better than one for these sorts of things.

On a related note, since Saturday I have received emails from several people interested in playing. The scene is growing slowly but surely. I'm going to be talking with folks to try to get a feel for what people want to do next. When I have an idea I will post it here as well as the SRK forums http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=128780&page=5 .

Tournament Update

|
Response so far has been low for this weekend, so we will simply be playing at my apartment. I don't think there will be any problems as far as space is concerned, and the added bonus of real furniture is a plus.

Saturday, April 11th at 1:30 pm.

Tournament - Saturday, April 11th

|
Ok everyone, after looking at the poll results and talking with people I have decided to set Saturday, April 11th as the date for the first tournament. It will be held in Little Rock, AR. We should be kicking things off around 1:00 pm. The current game lineup is as follows:

Street Fighter 4 - Xbox 360
Soul Calibur 4 - Xbox 360
Street Fighter HD Remix - Xbox 360
King of Fighters 98: Ultimate Match - PS2
Capcom vs SNK 2 - PS2

As always, I am open for suggestions, so if there is something else people want to play just let me know.
In addition to the 360 and PS2 I have a Wii, Dreamcast, and Saturn, so if you want to play something on another console someone will have to provide the console too, sorry. I also only have one joystick for the 360 and one for the PS2, since I can't promise that everyone will be able to use them you will need to bring your own stick to play on. For pad players I have first party controllers all around, so no worries there.

There will be two brackets for SF4, one friendly and one with a $10 entry fee. The cash tournement pot will be paid out 70%/20%/10% for 1st/2nd/3rd. Entry into the cash bracket is optional and you can be in both.
If you are willing to bring something we may need (TV, console, game, sticks, etc...), I will be willing to cover your cash entry, BUT, please check with me before hand to make sure it is something we need. If you bring something without checking with me first I can't guarentee we'll need it and therefore can't guarentee I can cover your entry.

Speaking of entry fee, this is a free event. There is no general entrance fee, so spread the word and bring everyone you can. If you are going to come please register ahead of time by emailing me at jxhicks@gmail.com. Please send me your name, what you will be playing, and where you are coming from.
Once I get an idea of how many people will be there I will post the location, until then just think Little Rock.

Also don't forget to check out the SRK forums and the Arkansas thread on there.

See you in April.
